  • You will need to fill out an application at the animal shelter. If all criteria is met, the cost is $65.00. This cost includes a $25.00 adoption fee, $25.00 deposit for spay or neuter and a $15.00 microchip fee.

  • It is best to come to the shelter and look for your animal. If your animal is at the shelter, there will be a $25.00 impound fee for the first offense. This cost will increase each time your animal is picked up by the animal control officer. There may also be additional fees depending on the status of the animal.

  • On the first Saturday of each month, Paws and Claws will hand out a limited number of certificates. The certificates are provided on a first come, first serve basis. The number of certificates available will depend on the amount of funds available.

  • No. The Artesia Animal Shelter requires a $25.00 deposit as a promise to have the animal sterilized. You may reclaim your deposit if you have your animal spayed or neutered within 30 days of adoption.

  • Partially. When animals arrive at the shelter, they receive vaccines for parvo, kennel cough, worms, and distemper. Rabies vaccination is the responsibility of the owner or new owner of the animal.

  • Yes. The total cost of adoption is $65.00. This includes a $25.00 adoption fee, $25.00 deposit for spay or neuter, and $15.00 microchip fee. The spay and neuter deposit may be refunded if the animal is spayed or neutered within 30 days of adoption.
