For a summary write-up, read below:
At our latest City Council meeting, they approved the donation of an old Artesia police cruiser to the New Mexico Military Institute PD. Donating old vehicles is not uncommon. This helps departments that may not have the budget to purchase brand new vehicles.
Next, our infrastructure director gave us some updates on road work around town. The 2nd and Richardson project has been completed. This was ahead of schedule, as it was originally planned to be completed in August. Additionally, work is continuing on both the 26th Street and Grand Street projects. Both of those projects are expected to move into their next phases around the end of June.
Finally, the city accepted the donation of a historic vehicle. A 1950 Brewer Oil truck was donated to the museum. Logistics are still being worked out in terms of where and how it will be displayed. Brewer was founded in Artesia in 1958. The donated truck was one of the company’s first delivery trucks.
This has been your city council recap. We hope you join us for our next meeting June 24th at city hall.
